Past and Present (Daniel Gate)
While waiting for Daniel’s drink, the Asian man gave a shake of his head. The girls all stood up and left the table.
Daniel resisted the urge to follow Eponine with his eyes and sat down when his host gestured. The serving girl placed a silver tray on the table. It contained a steaming cup of coffee, a creamer filled with hot milk and bowls of white and brown sugar.
“Allow me to introduce myself, Gate-san. Nobutoshi Tohru desu.”
“No need to introduce myself,” Daniel said as he added fixings to his coffee. “Everyone seems to know my name.”
“I know this may seem a frustrating process, but believe me, it will be worth it. And you have stayed with it so far.”
Daniel took a sip of the coffee. “You people have a way of keeping a guy’s interest, Nobutoshi-san. So, what do the Black Dragons have to do with this?”
“Unforunately, my family was tied to the group in the past. The Dragons have sent me this as a call for loyalty.”
Daniel raised an eyebrow, coffee mug halfway to his mouth.
