I like the atmosphere, but it remains too mysterious and hence hard to connect with. This is the sort of story that needs more space (and words) to breathe and develop. Have you thought about writing a prequel? Or a sequel?

I like the dark, mysterious tone to this story. You really don’t know what’s going on, so it leaves you wanting more.
