Crossing over (pt 4)
Ignoring the bitter cold, I took off my shoes and ran without a second thought—before my body would decide otherwise. Where was everybody? The dead silence and absolute solitude was unbearable. I ran. Faster. And faster. I wanted an escape. I frantically searched for an exit from this nightmare, but there appeared to be none. I continued to run. Soon enough, my breath ran short for it seemed like I was running for eternity. My head spun. Just as my legs betrayed me by giving out on me, I felt a pair of sturdy arms around me. Who is it? There was no one there not a minute ago. Was it an angel coming to save me? Hah! Yeah, right. With the way I’ve been so “faithfullyâ? following God, I doubt he would come and save me. That was when my thoughts went nuts. Oh my God! I’m gonna get raped. Oh God. Oh my God!
