The Stranger, Part II
I was struck with the thought
To run or confront the stranger.
Unwillingly I turned around and saw nothing,
But still the steps continued.
I looked all around me,
Panic running in my blood-filled veins.
A tap on the shoulder and I was terror-stricken.
I looked over my shoulder
And saw the shadowy dark figure.
Quickly I turned my head back facing forward.
My body frozen in place,
I felt the stranger’s breath on my neck,
Giving me chills down to the core of my bones.
Regretfully I turned around
And nothing was there.
The alley light was dim
And it was now harder to see
Than it ever was before.
Somehow it struck my mind
That this was just no ordinary experience,
For I met with a stranger
That most of us only meet once in a lifetime . . .
I met with Death.
