Outbreak v1.6
You digest the situation. Taking in every word as he explains further. You remember that man, how unattatched from the world he seemed. His eyes, those angry, empty eyes.
“I’ve been sleeping a week you said?” you ask.
“That’s right, you can effin sleep,” said the boy. Effin, you thought, wow..
“So… what’s happened since then?”
“Everything’s shut down. No lights, no water, no heat, and not a soul in sight,” said the man, “we’re gonna have to leave soon.”
“Leave? And go where?” you ask, not sure if that was such a good idea.
“Anywhere other than here obviously,” he snorted. “It’s not safe here.”
“Right…” You drifted off a bit. Suddenly your eyes widen. “My mom, I have to go see if she’s okay.”
“No.”
”...No? I wasn’t asking your permission..” you begin to say.
“Yeah, but as far as I’m concerned as of now we stick together, besides it’s dark and there are no street lamps. You’ll pratically be walking blind.” You curse under your breath.
“We’ll go in the morning then. But yeah, I’m hungry.”
