Just FYI , a .357 and a .38 are the same diameter of bullet. A .38 bullet can be fired from a .357, which might more properly have been called a .38 Magnum except that they didn’t want confused people trying to fire .357 cartridges out of .38 guns.

The truth comes out: I don’t know anything about guns. ;-)
