I haven’t figured out why she hasn’t..

Perhaps whe’s the whippin kind of slave and not the workin kind. Or maybe she’s gettin a whippin from not workin. But seriously, this story is suspenseful and good and sparks my imagination on why she’s being treated so badly—this could take on political meaning very easily. Emancipate, Slave Girl!
