“Wait, wait. Ventrue?” she said while trying to get a grip on herself. “Uh-uh. No way. You had to borrow money off me for coffee last week. You don’t have the resources to be a Blue Blood.”
“That depends on your definition of resources.” He winked. “Besides, it’s more fun to live how I used to than how I can. Keeps things in perspective.”
She started thinking. I can deal with this, she thought. And maybe, just maybe, he’ll give me what I want. “So, what about the rest of it? The rest of the whole supernatural scene? How much of the World of Darkness really is real?”
“Not much, really.” He shrugged, rather nonchalantly, like he was discussing his grocery list. “The ghosts are pretty accurate, but the rest of it… Well, let’s just say I’ve never met a real mage, and the werewolves are there as yang to our yin.” She raised an eyebrow, skeptically.
“Hey,” he laughed, “even God needs the Devil, right?”
“So, which are you? God or Devil?”
“The answer is far more interesting than you may suspect, my dear.”
