Earth Defense Plan
Here’s the plan.
We’ll intercept the nearly infinite alien horde with a single, slow-moving attack craft that can fire single unguided kinetic projectiles between conveniently placed orbital platforms that we’ll replenish every few minutes.
We’ll only launch reinforcements one at a time, and only build additional replacement units once for every fifty enemy units that our pilots manage to destroy.
We’ll provide a nice monocrhomatic tactical display to our pilots, with a top-down view of the enemy approach to Earth.
We’ll provide the pilots with a comforting electronic heartbeat sound to remind them that we’re still alive down here, and still care if they are.
But really, we’ll make their ships extra wide, with no appreciable benefit to maneuverability or armor (as we expect that even a single hit from the enemy’s weakest weapons will instantly destroy them), so that they’re better at intercepting shots that would otherwise hit the planet.
Let’s call this plan “Space Invaders”... Yeah. Sounds good.
