This is the first one I’ve written and purposefully tried to to leave a fair bit of room for prequels and sequels, my others have been bit closed to those options I think. So if anyone’s interested, go for it.

Great story. It’s got just the right balance of tension and humanity to resonate with me. I should probably point out that you changed from present tense to past tense in the fourth paragraph, which threw me for a bit of a loop.
