Dreamless Song

As it sings, somehow, it brings a light-heartedness to my day. Teachers seem more pleasant and easygoing. Friends are often more relaxed and ready to chat. Girls… Well, that I’ll leave to your imagination.

So perhaps it’s no surprise that I came to think, eventually, of this as my magic box with this box I could achieve my dreams.

My dreams?

Soon I realized the box had a price. No magic came freely and I had to pay the price. If I wanted the peace and freedom the Song could give me, I had to sacrifice my dreams.

Not just wishing in the sand for the future dreams, but all dreams. Dreams of a family, future and career. Dreams that I dreamt while sleeping. Day dreams, colored dreams, even the blackest dreams of terror belonged to the Song.

Could I, I wondered, live a life without dreams?
