im sensing an undertone of another group that is sterotyped and loathed in red states.

I dunno. I don’t see my vampires as standing in for any specific group. They can be representative of any group, be they Jews, Blacks, Gays, Mexicans, Nerds, etc.

I think I’m working more on theme of exploring the individual rather than the group, and accepting that individual for who he or she is, especially if that individual is yourself.
