A Strike at Christmas: the Local 37

The union hall was located on the north side of Little Town, near the bootie factory. Billy was running late, but that was normal for him. As he sneaked his way into the back of the large meeting room, the debate was already underway.

“I say we call the strike for tonight at midnight,” said one worker. “Let’s hit Mr. C. now before he can make a move to prevent us from walking out.”

“It’s too early, Sam,” another said. “We need to wait until the week of Christmas. That’ll do more harm. Let them try to distribute toys on time with us sitting at home drinking hot cocoa.”

Another worker stood up and suggested, “Let’s use the internet to promote our cause. We can flood YouTube with videos and all kinds of funny stuff to show how we are being cheated by Mr. C. and the Corporation. We need to get the public on our side.”

Billy sat down in a chair at the back of the room and listened to his friends speak out. It made him proud to be a member of the Local 37 of the Eggnog Labor Federation (ELF).
