Bad Girls Don't Go Anywhere
They stand on a ruddy plain, amid fields of debris that might have used to be houses. It looks like there was a war, or a really wild party, some time ago, and things fell into decay since then. They are the only two living things as far as the eye can see.
“Where is everyone?” Ema asks.
“What you see is what you get, babe,” the demon growls, disgruntled. “I told you the place was dead. Nobody believes anymore. There’s maybe a hundred of us left.”
“Then let’s leave, go somewhere else.”
The demon laughs bitterly. “Good luck with that. The only way out of here is being summoned, and before you called me, the last time any of us got summoned was 1974.” He kicked at a piece of debris with a hoof. “So here I am again. Well, at least I’m no worse off than I was yesterday. Enjoy eternity, sweet stuff.” He snaps his fingers, then vanishes in a puff of smoke.
Emma takes a good look around, then sits down on a chunk of debris. All she can do now is wait.
