Something that has always fascinated me, is my blue your blue. When you look to the sky do you see white puffy clouds against a powdery blue backdrop the same as me. If I were to peer through your eyes, would it be my purple against your white and my yellow to your blue?

Because we cannot see through each others eyes, can we ever be sure that the hue before us is perceived the same. Arguments to this nature have floated about for as long as anyone knows.

Fact is, the spectral mixture of reflected light is the same. However, is it read by our rods and cones in the same way.

We all agree that when we look to the daytime sky it is blue. Clouds are white or a variation of the shade, such as grey. But is it the same for all of us?

Maybe this could explain, by reason other than personality differences, why few people have the same favorite colour. Purple and white are my favorite, while I do not enjoy green and orange, to me, is a rather annoying shade.

So, is my blue, really, your blue?
