Uncomfortable meetings part 2

When I say “I left”, I really mean I bolted out of there. I just couldn’t stand the sight of Shawn’s face for longer than the 2 minutes I had to see him.
I was early for my train, so early that I caught the 7:15 train and not the 7:35. Hell, I’d rather show up 20 minutes early to work than have a conversation with Shawn.
As I walked over the train tracks, I saw him hustling after me.
“Rae, Rae please stop!” he shouted over the horn of the train. As I walked to board, the crossing guards fell leaving my poor ex-fiancĂ©e stranded looking like a helpless runt. Hah.
I sat at the Tribune Building writing my story for tomorrow’s paper when my secretary paged me, “Ms. Peters, you have a call on line 3.”
“This is Rae Peters” I answered.
“Rae, talk to me, please.” I heard Shawn’s voice on the other line.
“Shawn, how the hell do you know where I work?”
“I read the Tribune every morning. I read your column first. Rae, I screwed up 10 years ago, please give me one more chance.”
“No, you screwed up too badly.” I spat.
