I Love You Anyway

Her coffin is made of mahogany, the interior a fresh white cotton. The perfect coffin for the perfect girl. Everyone was shocked when they heard that she had killed herself. No one expected it. She was too popular, too smart, too everything to be suicidal.

Her teachers saw her as the future valedictorian who could go any wear and do anything she wanted. To the coaches she was the first string varsity swimmer and runner. They all wanted her to go out for the big triathlon in the state. Her friends saw her as the perfect one, the one they could go to for advice, the tutor who could help in any subject. Even her boyfriend was blinded by the smile. He loved her, they were the stereotypical perfect couple. He was hurt the most by her true self.

At the funeral he started to speak but his words were lost in his tears. Later on he held her hand, as they carried her to the grave. He held her tight and refused to let go. His heart had broken, if only she had shared he would have been able to say, I love you anyway.
