Ten Hours After
This was written by me at 4:27 AM on December 12
Dear Lora, Lorie, my OE, I will always remember you. You were – you are – part of who I am, and I cherish that.
I don’t know what you were doing out in Millville, and I don’t know if you ran the stop sign or if you just didn’t see the truck, but I love you.
I keep on casting searching eyes around the house, imagining someone with a camera will pop out and say “ Haha, you’ve been Punk’d!â? and then of course, you’ll come out laughing.
Never again: never again will you laugh, never again will you dance, never again will you love, never again will you cry, never again will you chastise me for being rude, never again will you hug me and make a silly joke, never again will I wake up knowing that I’m not the only child in the house – that I’m not alone.
Death is a funny thing.
