Transformation resumed
Wrenching herself free from the memory that wasn’t hers, Sara looked up again. More stars were winking out in a larger and larger area of the sky.
It seemed like an enormous black sheet was spreading out over her, blotting out the sky.
In panic, she spun around in what was now a glass prison. There was no way out. She was trapped.
The edge of the darkness reached the horizon and kept going, swallowing up everything in its path. It was like being inside a giant black flower, closing at the end of the day.
Sara’s panic was replaced by sudden calm. The memory came back, reminding her what she had to do. She had been chosen for this. This was her purpose.
She closed her eyes and surrendered herself, body and soul. The song welled up again and burst from her lips.
