Eternal Captivity

Searching, reaching, trying to understand,
looking for a place I call my own.
Never-ending days, minutes creeping by,
realizing that someday this must end.
Life goes on, day to day.
Voices tangle, actions fade, words lose their meaning.
People rush by, the others they pass becoming nothing more than insignificant spots on a gray horizon.
My voice is drowned out,
overlapped by yelling, confusion, and ignorance.
No delays, caught up in the moment,
yet still trying to predict my future.
My past? What does it matter?
It still led me here,
into this mess I cannot escape,
here in eternal captivity.
