Sleep {14}

I found that I had very little to say to him. He asked me questions every so often, but mostly we just sat and stared at each other. Finally, I decided to put us both out of our misery (by lying, of course).

“I’m so tired,” I said, letting out a great big yawn.
“Well, just lay your head down and go to sleep. I’ll be right here,” He was trying so hard to comfort me that something was unsettling about it. I tried to hint to him that I wanted him to leave the room, but he seemed intent on staying.

I curled up under the thin blankets of the creaky, old hospital bed. I wasn’t actually tired and had never planned on actually sleeping, but, with my father in the room, I thought it rather impossible to ever be able to sleep at all. It was just creepy. I knew he was going to stare at me like he had all day. If there was one thing I could not bare to think of after all of this, it was that some man would be watching me sleep.
