Why Can't I Be Like You?

“They can’t see me, I’m invisible.
I’m just hiding away from the rest of the world,
And I know they don’t care,
I am an empty air.
Socialite outcasts seem to always go far,
But why can’t thay just raise the bar.
Why can’t we be cool too?
I just want to be like you.”
Naima said this as her head hung low,
Letting her true beauty show.
I don’t know how she got there,
But I do swear,
That if there is anything good in this world,
Her fate will be twisted and twirled.
She is beautiful inside and out,
and I hate to see her pout.
My best friend, who can’t amend.
Oh why can’t she see,
she is better than me.
“Why would you want to be like this?
Living under an iron fist,
Never knowing your future for sure,
And having life rush by in a blur.
Why do they watch me,
And why can’t they see?
I can’t take it, it’s true.
Why can’t I be like you?”
