Haha, I like this, especially the whole “champagne bubble as my life” thing. Although, I found myself feeling sorry for the poor bubble at the end, getting drank (drunk? I don’t know the right word). But that’s just me, feeling sorry for inanimate objects. Poor little bubble!

Well conveyed ennui. I think that’s the right word. It’s probably not, but it sounds neat, doesn’t it. I really felt for the character.

I like champagne as a metaphor for the crappiness of New Year’s. It totally works b/c it’s true.

The narration is strong, very good read. My one hang up is ”… bubbly glasses of liquor.”
try the word alcohol in the place of liquor, or some other variaton that isn’t ‘champagne’ (used too many times) that works. Because liquor drinks are not carbonated (unless we are talking 40’s which technically are malt liquors and do have carbonation).
5 stars regardless of that small detail.
