Death is not Permanent Here
“I told you this was going to happen. She’s dead.”
The girl slumped over in front of me in a pool of spreading blood. I scowled at Fadil. He smiled creepily back. “we’re going to have to bring her back again.” He was always so flippant about the resurrection process.
“It’s not going to be pleasant for her, you know.” I wasn’t sure I could watch this, having just gone through the process myself not two hours ago.
Fadil keyed up the start sequence, and placed the resurrection device around the girl’s neck. Nanoassemblers immediately sprouted fine threadlike mycelia which would soon cover the girls still cooling corpse. The microscopic hyphae would eventually spread through her tissues and slowly reassemble her at the molecular level.
“Kadar, you look like you are going to be sick. Go and check the tent. It looks like the storm is going to continue for some time now.” The lightning outside was terrible, but I was only too glad to be out of there.
I tried not to hear the choked screaming that came next.
