My Favorite Flower
This is my favorite flower.
It was the highlight of my wedding bouquet, and I have a tall vase of artificial ones gracing my living room. I guess you could say this flower came in at the beginning of my adult journey and is sticking around to observe the rest of the trip. (I married young.)
I love the simplicity of the cala lily. It is sleek and modern. The clean lines of the straight stems and single petal lend themselves to tall, even bouquets that are striking in their stately primness. I think of the bouquet as the girl in the room that doesn’t know she’s beautiful, just thinks she’s very plain.
The white ones I adore. I like the other colors too, the yellows, reds, purples, greens, but the white is my favorite. It’s pure, innocent. White is neutral, it gets along with everybody, friendly, like the girl in the room. Her smile is as sweet as the fragrance of the lily in morning dew. She leans slightly to peer in a mirror, unaware of the allure of such a graceful arc.
Feminine.
Elegant.
Cala lily.
