Life Without
It has been two weeks since April has seen or heard from her father. She still is plagued by nightmares. She will often wake up in a cold sweat from a dream she had. She revisits that horrible night in her dreams.
Her mother is always there to re assure her that they are just dreams. But when she sleeps she is drawn to the basement.
April and her mother Toni, have moved from the shelter. They now live in a small apartment. The had moved out of town and out of state. Toni thought, the further away she could get from her husband, the safer April would feel. She has been right so far, but at night it’s always a struggle.
Since that horrible night, the two of them have tried to move on with life as best as they could. Toni filed for divorce and took her daughter out of school. She started to see the signs of abuse that she was displaying. So she opted to have April home schooled. She also put her through counseling to help her adjust to life without her abusive father.
