So Much Suffering (Pt. 5)

“No?” she replied stupidly. She couldn’t grasp it. What race was as dumb as the humans?

“No,” the voice said. “They didn’t do it.”

“If the humans didn’t do it… then… then who did?”

“Not sure. I could tell by their aura, though, they weren’t Terrininian.”

“You lose that power when you’re just a soul?”

“Pretty much.” The young woman froze. She heard horse hooves clatter in the distance. She leapt up and jumped into the shadows, leaving the souls there like someone who’d just been rudely hung up on. She held her breath as two creatures that had features similar to a ferret’s rode by. She stared at the people until they were out of sight and earshot before running back over and pressing her palm to the ground again.

“That was mean,” the spirit said angrily.

“There were people,” she replied calmly.

“Oh…. People? Or ferrets?”

“They looked like ferrets…. in the face, ya know.”

“You should’ve looked at their hands. I think you’d have found them furry.”
