Dedication
She reached the lounge, with its plush sofas and big-screen tv, and was shocked to see Steve there. “Hey,” she murmured with a nod, collapsing into a blue recliner, “Miss me?” He laughed, not bothering to look up from the notebook he was scribbling in, and she popped open her laptop.
An hour flew by, and calls started coming in. A vampire in a park, a werewolf transforming in a Chuckie Cheese ball pit, and a whole slew of nightmares. Soon, both Ev and Steve’s pagers were buzzing, but he didn’t notice. Ev shut her laptop and stood, beckoning Steve. They trotted out to the Cherokee, and Ev called in on her cell. “What’s up, Miller?” she chirped, and he filled her in, with no exuberance.
She hung up and sighed, once again vaulting herself into the oversized tank. “Cherokees aren’t even that big!” Steve laughed, “I want an Excursion.” Ev shot daggers at him with her eyes. “Zombie pack, near Wilkinson and 3rd, in a Regal movie theater.” She leaned back, put her feet up, “Drive on!”
Zombie time, sweet.
