Tough Love

“Bryan?”

“Yeah Rae?”

“When can this stop being a secret?”

“I told you, as soon as I have money to rent an apartment for us. It won’t be long, I promise.”

“You said that five months ago.”

“I know, but stuff came up.”

“It always comes up, Bry. I’m sick of keeping secrets. I’m sick of making up lies…”

“We will be together; I promise you.”

“You always make promises but then they turn to empty words. You need to show me that you’re not wasting my time.”

“How can I be wasting your time? We love each other. We planned this whole beautiful life together. A colonial style home with a huge front yard, three kids, and a Great Dane named Smooch.”

“Because Bryan, I want to do things. Plus, my family will not allow for me wed to a high school drop out who cannot hold a job for more than two months. I have my bachelors degree. I have had a job for three years since. What about you?”

“Rae, what are you saying?”

“I’m saying that I can’t do this any more. When you’re ready for our life come find me.”
