When We Weren't Cool

“Hey what’s up y’all,” I said. My cousins, they’re great, I thought, rather quickly. I wish I could be more like the older ones. They are in high school and they are so cool. They always have friends over and they are cool too. I can’t wait to get older, but right now, I got a job to do.

I turned on the Genesis and began playing Sonic 2. Racing through the levels with ease, the day matured. “Dinner’s ready. Come and eat and turn that game off,” my aunt said. “What time is it?” (Always my reply). “Seven o’ clock.” I have to stop doing this, I lamented.

As junior high school approached, I noticed that girls’ chest poked out a bit, like older people, but I liked it. They used to always tell me I was ugly and wouldn’t touch me.
