The Best of Friends

“Isn’t it amazing? Humans have this strange mechanism that kicks into action as soon as somebody figures out that they’re hiding something. As if we couldn’t tell that they were.” ranted Cairyl.
“What do you mean?” Anah inquired.
“They’re too easy to read. You mention one word that comes close to something they’ve done, and guilt reveals itself on their faces. I mean, the facial expression is enough to think that they just jumped in front of a bullet.”
“Why do you always talk like that? Using the word ‘humans’ all the time. What are you? An alien?” a smile crept across her face as she braided Cairyl’s light brown hair.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if I was an alien. I feel like I’m adopted or something. I mean- OUCH !” turning around, she gave her best friend a glare.
“Sorry.”
“So when are we gonna practice our ballet routine?” Cairyl asked as she laced up her new ballet pointes.
“How about now? We have to practice for that spot in the production.”
“No, not now. You’re pointes are too worn out.”
