Ficlets

Untitled (Poem) Please read!

It was once impermeable.
Though thin, the creamy, porcelain layer was strong, stiff.
But now, its strength fails, the layer fades, becomes nearly translucent, and peels away, revealing an inner rebel.

A new person emerges like a snake that’s shed its skin.
This person takes over; it consumes OldPerson’s perfectionism and undying obedience. It chomps up the perfect 4.0 GPA as its midnight snack.

OldPerson’s thoughts, dreams, goals suffocate under NewPerson’s grasp.
Only mutterings, muffled sounds of panic escape OldPerson’s mouth.
She dies a slow and agonizing death as her dreams of being accepted into college, getting married, living a full life, TRANSFORM
to NewPerson’s dreams…which don’t exist.

NewPerson lives to rebel, live on the wild side.
Conforming’s for losers, her motto is. Don’t live by the rules.
Who cares about grades?

And as OldPerson breathes her final, frail breath…
NewPerson takes over-a dictator ruling the mind, the body, the soul.

OldPerson has gone missing-never to be seen again.
