Ficlets

Staying here, I guess

“You see that grid?” I said.
I pointed to a grid on the other side of the house.
“Move it to my window, and climb up.”
“It looks heavy.” She said.
“It’s wood.” I said. “Just try to get up here, ok? Then we can talk.”
She got up, dropped her bags on the floor, hugged me, and gave me a quick kiss.
“So, what happened?” I asked, sitting down on my bed.
While stroking an extremely tired Willy, she told me everything, how she packed, what she planned to do, why she did it….
everything.
“This is crazy.” I said. “How are your parents not going to find out?”
“They won’t.”
“How!?”
“You’ll see.”
I shook my head, and picked a sleeping Willy up and set him on my pillow.
“You are sleeping here.” I said. “I’ll grab a blanket and sleep on the floor.”
“Thanks.” She smiled. “You’re the best.”
“No problem.”
