INERTIA – The tendency of a body at rest to remain at rest or of a body in straight line motion to stay in motion in a straight line unless acted on by an outside force.

He didn’t feel like he was miserable. He didn’t feel like he was lonely. He didn’t feel as though he was stuck.

He kept himself busy with his work, with his friends, with his routine. It took up all of his time, so when his cousin offered to introduce him to one of her friends, he resisted. He had enough on his board, and she would be another variable that set the equation out of balance. He was fine with where he was in his life, and there was where he would stay.

Ignoring his protestations, his cousin invited them both to her home for coffee on Sunday.

Seeing her was all it took to get the ball rolling.
