United by Pain, Connected through Scars

I see you trying not to cry, as I stand here looking in your eyes.
I reach out towards you, you jerk away. And through that movement, I feel your pain.
...I ignore all warnings, and pull you towards me.
At first you’re stiff, and then you unfreeze.
You slowly return my gesture, and wrap your arms around me.
I hug you tighter then, and here we stand quietly.
Our shirts have become wet by our silent tears,
Neither of us brave enough to voice our fears.
But you are no longer screaming out.
For as long as we are hugging, your pain we both shall share.
And your burden lessens, I whisper in the air.
“No matter where you go, I will always be there. No matter how far, because we are united by pain, connected through scars.”
