“In just a few moments, we will be hearing from the chicken herself, tell, for the first time anywhere ,the long awaited true story of why she crossed the road, back after a few words from our sponsors,” said Ophelia.
The Chicken that had become such a celebrity over the years, sat waiting in the green room.
She was nervous. She had never told the reason why she crossed the road before. She had been approached many times to write her autobiography, to do the morning and late night talk shows, but she always avoided the limelight.
Now her story could be told, now that she felt safe.

“And we’re back”, Ophelia said, “Ladies and gentlemen, please give a warm welcome to my guest, The Chicken That Crossed the Road.”
The audience erupted in applause.
The Chicken slowly walked across the stage, hopped up onto the chair.
“So, tell us, tell America, why after all these years, you’re finally going to tell us why you crossed the road?”, Ophelia said.
“Well Ophelia”, the Chicken said.
Then the studio lights went out.
