Destination Unknown :A New Dai

Dai was down to $38.00 and in need of gas.

Pulling into a Hess station Dai said to the attendant, “Fill er up with regular please.”

“Thirty two dollars sir,” the attendant said.

Dai paid him and drove away. Six dollars left. I should have gotten a Snicker bar, Dai thought.

Driving along the highway to somewhere, destination unknown.
Was he doing the right thing? Leaving everyone and everything he knew behind? Second and third thoughts.

He could turn back around and make things right.
Maybe things would be different. He bet they all missed him by now.

A single tear drop fell from Dai’s cheek.

On the radio,’ God Must Have Spent a Little More Time on You’, by Alabama.

Dai made a U turn, and a Honda almost ran off the road.

“Whats a matta wit you?”, a roadrager yelled at him.

Dai ignored him and headed for home.
