As the world fell apart.
My ears are still numb from the action my platoon and I had seen earlier this morning. We had been on the front lines, right in the thick of it. Although there were many casalties,
I thank God me and many of my men made it to this evening. The few loses we had, hit us all hard.
After it was evident that we had the victory over a battle against the enemy that was constantly moving closer to our make-shift camps, we were headed back through the brush when I decided to let the men rest. It was a rest needed by everyone. I watched as my men, my friends, collapsed in front of me, weary and battle-worn. Some read passages from the bible to give them strength. It was the sight of two of my men, one weeping for the loss and struggle he had faced earlier, the other encouraging him to press on while he held his fellow sholdier, that made me vow in my heart to give everything I have to help end this war. God help us all…
