But, We're Already Here
A quiet evening at home spent watching sci -fi, having nothing else to do, the family gathered eagerly around the television set. A show navigating delicately through the eerie details of alien abductions and eye witness accounts of unidentified flying objects.
Sparking emotional conversations from the members of the viewing audience, i.e. the family, about whom had seen what throughout their years here on our tiny little planet Earth. Of course, arguements soon ensued and emotions flared until jeering laughter broke the tension.
The imaginative and curious eleven year old son sheepishly asked his mother, “Wouldn’t it be cool, if they would just come here?” His mother turned to him and smiled. “Why, what do you mean?”
He turned his big brown eyes back to the television and sighed, almost embarrassed at his wishful thinking, “I think it would be neat if they just showed up and taught us stuff.”
His mother couldn’t resist, “But,” she whispered, “we’re already here.“
