Seeing Dawn Through New Eyes
Luna came to her feet in less than a second, her heart pounding painfully. A boy-and a good looking one at that-was staring, awed, over into the backyard.
Luna quivered as her eyes met his. He was tall, no more than 16, and his hair was a dirty blonde. His eyes, blue, like a cold stone. Luna almost shuddered in excitement. Their eyes locked for more than a minute. Suddenly, a voice called out of nowhere.
“Marc! Where are you? Where did you go?”
“Coming!” the boy (apparently called Marc), looked back at Luna over his shoulder and ran in the direction of the voice.
As he disappeared out of sight, Luna collapsed.
Was this love at first sight? Her heartbeat still hadn’t settled. It was like lightning had struck her.
The hours until dawn passed as quickly as seconds. Luna thought about him-how she could find out who his Marc boy was. As the first light’s rays peeked through the fence, Luna felt her paws tingling.
She looked down. Like a hologram disappearing, everything canine was dissolving.
