She had a secret; one she had never told anybody. It was a very painful secret that she preferred not to talk about.
As a young child, her parents had gotten sick of her and put her in the hole of a tall oak tree. Since she was just a small child, she was terrified to come out of the trunk of that tree. It became her home.
Every once in a while, when she got hungry, she would dare to reach out into the open air and grab some leaves. Other than that, she didn’t leave the tree for anything.
As she grew older and lonelier, she wanted to go on with her life and find a new home. She tried to squeeze her body out through the slim opening but just couldn’t manage it. She had grown so much since that rainy day when she was two years old and first put into the tree.
She let out a scream but could not utter any words since she had never been taught to talk.
