What to say, what to say…..!!
“Mel!” I blurted out. “I don’t like how this is going!”
I stepped up to her, took her hands in mine, and looked her intensely in the eye.
“I don’t want to lose you to Matt.” I said. “Real couples work things out, even if it’s hard. We are a real couple, Melanie!”
The look in Mel’s eyes softened, if possible.
“I don’t know about you, but I want to work things out.” I said.
“Yeah, but Hayden…It’s hard with Matt around and-”
“Don’t you understand!?” I blurted out. “You are the best thing that ever happened to me! You are this beautiful girl who I want more than anything!”
Silence.
“And I know Matt would never have these kind of feelings!” I said. “What he has is a crush! What I have is love! Almost an obsession!”
Mel just looked away, and took a step back.
She was shaking a little, and I was wondering what was going on.
There was too much silence, we were just standing there on the sidewalk.
“Mel?” I asked.
