Very nice dialog, I guess some things never change. I like the endoshilding idea as well, really creepy. Maybe they’re not even on Earth ? I mean on Mercury you’d probably have to have pretty darn good shielding thing to survive.

It’d probably be easier to build a sun-shading statite or live underground than to use any form of thermal protection on the surface, though…

That’s a good idea, provided some cataclysm hasn’t made all spaceflight or mass excavation technologically impossible… ;-) I left the details intentionally vague, hoping some brave ficleteer might come along and clarify just who these people are and why they need endoshielding, anyway.
