The Drive Home
Chris leaves the parking lot where he met his friend. He pulls out slowly and pulls his car back on to the road. He heads back to the city, and his home with Thora.
He starts to think about the situation, in the larger sense. He left the house suddenly, late at night to score a stash. And Thora had shown no signs of concern. Chris knew she trusted him. And now he was destroying that trust.
He started to feel really bad. Hurting Thora would be the very last thing he would want to do. But he knew that if he wasn’t careful, he would risk doing just that. She didn’t have to know really, it wasn’t a big deal. It’s not like he was using hard drugs. Just something to take the edge off, in certain circumstances.
He knew he was only justifying all this to himself. He still felt a little scared. If things were so great, like he said they were, then why did he feel the need to turn to a mid level drug? Suddenly he felt very queasy. He pulled over and vomited in the grass. He knew this was a sign, a bad one too.
