Upon the Window, Finale

Evelyn shrieked as the claw withdrew, and Penelope clamped her hand over her friend’s mouth. She plucked a book off the shelf, it’s black cloth binding was imprinted with strange silver symbols. A large eye dominated the center of the front cover. She opened the book slowly. “This isn’t the time for reading, Pen!” Ev murmured, staring intently at the doors. A scratching noise on the other set of doors started, and Evelyn moaned. “We’re surrounded!”

“Oh, Ev…” Penelope groaned, her face pale, “Joe… that son of a bitch.” She shook her head, flipping pages rapidly. She scanned the books on the shelves, “This is an occult library, Evelyn.” She stated the fact monotonously, “And this is a book about human sacrifice to make your summoned demons stronger.” She threw the book on the floor and kicked, sending it across the library floor.

It cleaved the door in two this time, and the lights went out. Screams filled the library. Outside, at his car, Joe smiled. They’d be strong now, strong enough to do his bidding.
