Lost Souls
Amid broken glass,
in chapel dark,
a shadow sits.
With tear-stained cheeks.
He clutches a rose to his bare chest.
Eyes to heaven.
World fading.
He himself is forgotten.
A fallen cherub.
The world passes him by.
Empty walls cradle him.
Skin cracked like fallen leaves.
He sighs with broken wings.
And dancing candles.
Rusty chains of lives now ceased.
Amid broken glass,
in chapel dark.
There are beating hearts.
though broken,
live.
Don’t let them fade away.
