Ghostly Dealings

You see, it works like this.

The High Viscount of the Otherworld had worked out a system with the Second in State Undersecretary of the Overworld.

Wherein this complicated financial contract, the Overworld agreed to pay a decent amount of gold for every ghost that successfully scared one of it’s human subjects. This, though not a major income for the Otherworld, had in the past paid for such luxuries as indoor Orgy pools and other types of trivial entertainment.

Unfortunately, the – now unfair – reverse depository clause within the contract deemed that for every ghost driven away by sheer and utter disbelief resulted in said gold travelling in the opposite direction.

Corwin, in his happy and unaware bliss, had now set the High Viscount’s gold debt to roughly three thousand tons. This had recently led to the catastrophic closure of the Orgy pools, and a lowering of his staff’s morale.

Neither situation was, of course, acceptable. Which meant in the short term Corwin would have to be dealt with.
