A Walk
“I feel like ‘Odette’ from the Swan Princess,” Luna growled to herself. The sun had vanished into the lake. “Only I’m a bit…tougher built than a swan.”
Luna padded into the forest, her eyes taking in all of the surroundings. She continued until she reached the large pine trees; They marked the start to the base of the mountain. Luna headed back. There were still hours left till sunrise.
She trotted onto the road. A doe and her fawn were grazing on a batch of dandelions. When they saw Luna, their big brown eyes widened and they dissapeared into the forest.
“Typical deer,” Luna huffed.
She walked down the road. The night was now deep and cold. Luna’s thick fur kept her warm. She continued to walk, careful not to scrape her sensitive pads on the hard asphalt.
There was a hill and a small dip, where you could find a bed-and-breakfast, and to the right was a picnic area.
She decided to go to the picnic area.
As Luna settled down onto the cool grass, her ears picked up a sound: Footsteps.
