The fish speaks

I stomped my feet in frustration, though am not sure how much of my anger was conveyed by that due to the unfortunate comic effect provided by the bunny slippers.

“Naw, that’s just for effect.”, he said, laughing at my ineffectual actions. “We do have a problem that needs solved though.”

“Yeah, yeah.. I heard all about the cookie about to flatten the Earth.. and how I am the only person to stop it. The details are a little vague though.”, I muttered.

“Well, according to this book,”, he began as the two little hamsters struggled to carry a rather large tome with a big smiley face on the front, “we have one chance of saving the Earth. We have to try to contact some mice on the other side of the galaxy and ask them to send us some milk.”

I looked at the catfish. I had long ago tired of looks of incredulity so decided to try ‘interested apathy’. Unable to resolve the dichotomy between the two, I settled for saying, “What?” and watched to see what would come of it.
