A Night in Darwin City

It was twenty to two in the morning and Raul could feel his eyelids getting constantly heavier as he walked at a brisk pace down a surprisingly empty street of Darwin City. His apartment seemed an eternity away. Worn out and somewhat tipsy, he couldn’t wait for his head to hit the pillow.

One thing that surprised him about tonight was the lack of the nighttime rabble that usually plagued this part of town. Homeless, mutants, prostitutes, vampires, drugies and other unsavory characters, but tonight, nothing. He was glad. Sure, he carried a Focus and knew well how to use it, but self-defensive Magic is difficult enough when you’re wide-awake, alert and sober.

Magic was fairly sparse in this City, with very few places to learn or practice it. Raul was a Magister, a scientist who studied and researched Magic and it’s applications, so his training came with the field of work, but even a Magister would have a hard time mustering a blinding circle feeling this drained.
